More OCR Patterns in DISCUS 5.2

Home 01/23/2012 | Category: General

DISCUS 5.2 will now recognize R .123 MAX for a Radius of .123 (for example) as a single value as the max.
DISCUS will also recognize the word Places so if the ballooned item has the text 5 PLACES, DISCUS will populate the umber of places field apprpriately with the places indicated.

Use Characteristic Filter for Empty (Missed) Requirements

Home 01/9/2012 | Category: Tips

If you have balloons on the drawing but have not entered structured information, you can easily find out which ones are not complete.

  1. Click the filter icon to the left of the Bill of Characteristics (BoC) and select Incomplete
  2. Only the items that do not have structured data display.
  3. Enter the data for each missing item and as you do so, the list of incomplete reduces.
  4. When complete, click the filter icon and select Complete and the BoC refreshes with the completed data and now you are ready to Export to Excel.

Try Other DISCUS Add-Ons for Free!

Home 01/2/2012 | Category: Tips
If you are a current DISCUS customer and you would like to try some of our other modules, request a free 15-day evaluation license. We currently have two types of evaluations available – one focused on First Article Inspection (2D FAI) and one for Inspection Planning (Planner). The 2D FAI evaluation includes Desktop, OCR, Results and CMM. The CMM module that is part of this evaluation is a new add-on we introduced in 2011 and supports PCDMIS text import files. The Planner evaluation includes Desktop, OCR and Planner. Both options allow you to “try before you buy” and ensure the new add-on is a fit for you company.  One note – it is best to try the evaluations while you are on the latest version of DISCUS (currently 5.0.3 as of December ‘11) or at least the same major version, ie using 5x DISCUS with a 5x evaluation license. To obtain your free 15-day evaluation, send an email to support@discussoftware.com.
