Tip #16 Store your templates for easy access

  1. Save your templates to this location:  C:\Documents and Settings\userID\Application Data\Characteristic Solutions\DISCUS\profiles\Default\templates.
  2. When you export the BoC, this template will display in the drop-down list for selection.
  3. (Note: you may have to unhide some of the path noted above.)

Tip #15 Create your own templates

  1. To create an excel template for use within DISCUS, access the Help.
  2. Search for Tokens. This provides examples and the coded tokens that are added to your template.
  3. Save your template and export via BoC.
  4. Click the first Browse and locate the template you created.
  5. Export the data in the output Browse.
  6. You may need to make a few adjustments/modifications as you work through your template.

Tip #14 Create Measurement Equipment on the fly

  1. With the Results add on, open the Characteristics Properties box.
  2. Select the Optional / Additional tab. Click the Field Set up button.
  3. Enter the measurement equipment for any of the Columns/Fields.
  4. The entry will appear as text as you entered.
  5. Click any entry that is in error and click Remove. This removes the item from the list.

Tip #13 Adjust the Font on the Annotated Text

  1. Right-click on the annotated text and click Edit.
  2. Click Font and adjust the size, color and style (such as Bold/Italic).
  3. Accept the changes. Click the selection arrow to move the text to an appropriate place.

Tip #12 Choose Between English or Metric

  1. Click File and TDP Properties
  2. On the right upper corner, select either English or Metric.
  3. Any dimensional value will be in inches or millimeters, as appropriate.

Tip #11 Export Multiple Results Line-by-Line

If you downloaded DISCUS 3.51 you can export multiple results onto excel. This is ideal for customers’ AS9102 forms that want each result on a separate line.

Enter the values in DISCUS results, separated by commas, for example, 2.14, 2.15, 2.13

  1. Click Results Setup and click the check box to export line-by-line.
  2. Click BoC and Export to Excel.
  3. Click to save the export in the output location.
  4. Click Export and the FAI will display separate line items for each result entered.
